Borregaard, Eduard (1902-1978)

Eduard Borregaard was a proficient Danish painter of expressive still lifes, figures and landscapes. Inspired by the post-impressionists, his vibrant works are energetic and spirited. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Eduard Valdemar Michael Borregaard, a pianist, and Agnes Clara Elisabeth Lydia Borregaard (nee Noack).

1921-1924

Studied under Ejnar Nielsen at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.

1928

Married Theresia (Thea) Wilhelmine Jahnel in Copenhagen.

1933

Debuted at Den Frie Udstilling ('The Free Exhibition').

1934 & 1937

Undertook study trips to Austria.

1936

Awarded a gold medal for ‘The Great Supper’.

1937

Debuted at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition.

1978

Died.
